Home Stretch

The months of December and January so far have been wedding lite.  But all of a sudden, everything has to be done now.  I thought I had it all under control and the planning was pretty easy, and then I got a 12 page document to be filled out in advance of our planning meeting with our venue requiring me to make decisions about every aspect of the day.  What color linens?  Which tables?  Where do you want the cake table?  The gift table?  The escort card table?  The guest book table?  Who's making toasts?  Who's doing readings?  Who's standing where and when?  What order will everyone walk in?  What do I need in the room while I'm getting ready?  What will the decor be?  When do we want the rehearsal?  And so on and so forth which is so much fun but also terrifying and overwhelming.  Because I don't know.  I mean I sort of know.  I can see it all in my head.  But translating that into writing and articulating a vision only I can see is easier said than done.  Luckily, the people we're working with are amazing, which is why I've been completely comfortable taking their advice and trusting that they get it.  

 

Yesterday we finalized the menu and the cake.  I loved that part because the food at this wedding will probably be the best meal I've ever had, and I also loved it because Joe was invested.  We had so much fun.

After we tasted them, Joe said 2 and I said 1.  Then we tasted again.  And again.  Then Joe said 1 and I said 2.  More tasting.  #1 is the winner!

Part of the difficulty of all of this planning has been doing it by myself because my family and most of my friends are so far away.  But on the flip side, I've been able to make almost every decision based on exactly what we want without having to hear a zillion conflicting opinions from well-meaning loved ones.

We're so close!
