Calm Before the Storm

Two years in a row now, I've prepared for hurricanes by deep cleaning my entire apartment in an anxiety-induced spurt of nervous energy.  It makes absolutely no sense.  Why one needs to dust light bulbs in advance of a possible flood is beyond me.  Yet I spent a good portion of yesterday cleaning.  Well actually there's cleaning and then there's on your hands and knees with a spray bottle of bleach scrubbing behind the toilet.  Because I am a very logical person.

The view from our back door on Sunday.
We rearranged the closet we use for storage to put all plastic storage bins on the bottom and all cardboard boxes on top, made sure all important docs were put away and stored high, stocked up on water, canned goods, and batteries, downloaded some movies onto the iPad, and put a full tank of gas in the car.  Then Joe went to watch football all day with his buddies while I obsessively cleaned.  I'm hoping that when it's all over the only evidence that remains of this awful storm is a spotless apartment.

Stay safe.
